Angekommen in der Auszeit
An meinem ersten Tag in Arequipa regnet es dort seit zwei Jahren zum ersten Mal und die Kappe des Vulkans “Misti” erstrahlt am Morgen in blendendem Weiß. Vermutlich werde ich jetzt zu einer Art Wettergöttin. Normal ist diese lange Durststrecke im Süden Perus nicht. Kein Wunder, dass der Klimawandel nicht nur seit dem Gipfel in Lima ein Thema ist. Endlich! Séralinis Genfood-Sensation wandert in die Tonne
Wer erinnert sich noch? Im letzten Jahr veröffentlichte das Labor von Prof. Gilles-Eric Séralini der Universität Caen eine Arbeit mit riesigen, sensationsheischenden Bildern von Ratten, deren Tumore im Verlauf von zwei Jahren auf bis zu 25% des Körpergewichts angewachsen waren. Die Tiere hatten gentechnisch veränderten Mais der Firma Monsanto und das Herbizid RoundUp zu fressen bekommen. Es gab einen riesigen Medienrummel um das „giftige Genfood“.
