Mündliche Prüfungen: Konkrete Beispiele und Teil 2 der allgemeinen Überlegungen
Im vorigen Beitrag hatte ich die Lanze für mündliche Prüfungen insbesondere im Studium gebrochen, als meiner Meinung nach beste Möglichkeit, tieferes Verständnis eines wissenschaftlichen Themas auszuloten – und habe in den Kommentaren ja einiges an bedenkenswertem Kontra bekommen! In diesem Folgebeitrag will ich noch näher auf meine eigenen Erfahrungen eingehen, die vor allem die (jetzt gerade wieder anstehenden) mündlichen Prüfungen für unseren Blockkurs Astronomie für Studierende der Physik auf Lehramt (an Gymnasien) betreffen. QM – Quäl Mich
Es gibt ja so ein paar Jobs im Krankenhaus, die sind ziemlich unbeliebt. Das sind vor allem die Beauftragten-Jobs. Beauftragte gibt es für so ziemlich jeden noch so (un)wichtigen Teilbereich: Hygiene, Transfusionen, Geräte, Arbeitssicherheit und so. Meistens teilen sich diese äußerst beliebten Jobs die Herren und Damen Oberärzte. Hin und wieder ist es selbst denen zu blöd und dann muss einer der Altassistenten herhalten. Neulich schickte mich Frau Oberärztin zu einer Schulung. Nichts ahnend marschierte ich dorthin: es handelte sich um eine QM-Schulung. QM scheint ja zur Zeit überall sehr en vogue zu sein, nichts geht mehr ohne QM. Aber was ist das eigentlich QM? Das habe ich mich vor dieser Schulung auch gefragt..eigentlich frage ich mich das jetzt auch noch danach, denn “I understood only railstation” (Zitat von John Madison). Fünf Stunden ätzende Diskurse über Normen, Prozesse, Handbücher und Organigramme brachten mich zur Überzeugung QM steht für Quäl Mich. Am nächsten Tag grüßte mich Frau Oberärztin mit “Sie sind jetzt übrigens unsere QM-Beauftragte, herzlichen Glückwunsch!”

Mikroskope vs. Ameisen
Ich hatte Donnerstag anlässlich des Girls-Day die Gelegenheit, unseren Röntgenlaser einem Publikum aus 10- bis 14-Jährigen vorzustellen. Meine erste Aufgabe sah ich darin, den Schüler_innen zu veranschaulichen, Wie klein unsere Objekte überhaupt sind. Ich begann also mit einem Schaubild, das ich auf einer Website der University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill fand. Wir interessieren uns für Strukturen, die kleiner sind als Bakterien. Bakterien sind etwa tausend mal kleiner als Ameisen. Ameisen sind etwa tausend mal kleiner als Menschen. Damit scheint es evident: Wenn wir Ameisen sehen können, dann müssen Ameisen Bakterien sehen können.
