In deutschen Arztpraxen findet zur Zeit ein Paradigmenwechsel statt. Anstatt wie bisher den Patienten nicht als direkten Kommunikationspartner wahr zu nehmen und den Fokus einzig auf die Behandlung der Symptome und Krankheitsbilder zu richten, wird der Patient nun mehr und mehr in die Praxis eingebunden und für die eigene Gesundheit mit verantwortlich gemacht. Dieser Trend entsteht vor allem durch die höheren Heilungschancen, wenn die Patienten aktiv in die eigene Therapie eingebunden werden. Viele Ärzte und Praxismitarbeiter fürchten jedoch durch diesen Trend den Verlust ihres Ansehens und vor allem ihrer Autorität. Dies ist jedoch ein Mythos, der sich so nicht bestätigen lässt.
