Dix und Beckmann in Mannheim und München
Unter dem Titel „Mythos Welt“ ist derzeit noch in der Mannheimer Kunsthalle (und ab dem 11. April 2014 in der Münchner Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung) eine nicht nur für Kunstfreunde, sondern auch für historisch Interessierte ergiebige Ausstellung zu sehen. Obwohl vielen ein großer Teil der ausgestellten Arbeiten schon bei anderen Gelegenheiten begegnet sein dürfte, stellen sich durch die direkte Gegenüberstellung der Bilder von Max Beckmann und Otto Dix manche Fragen neu. Visum und Vogelmist
Worüber ein Mensch sich so freuen kann. Ich beispielsweise gerade darüber, dass ich nach Chile ein- und wieder ausreisen durfte und mir Peru ein weiteres Visum für 90 Tage gewährt hat. Und wohin fährt man von Arequipa aus, wenn man diesen Stempel braucht? Klar nach Tacna und Arica. Die liegen beide in der Nähe der Pazifikküste und mehr oder weniger mitten in der Wüste zugleich. Warum sind Findlinge rund?
Findlinge, also große Geschiebe mit einem Durchmesser von mehr als ½ Meter, haben meist eine mehr oder weniger rundliche Form. Das erscheint einem schon fast so typisch, dass man rundliche Felsblöcke, die unmotiviert in einer Landschaft herumliegen, gerne vorschnell für eiszeitliche Findlinge halten möchte. In mitunter dienen diese rundliche Felsblöcke dann so manchen Leuten als „Gegenbeweis“ zur etablierten Erdgeschichte. Als Geowissenschaftler weiß man dann oft nicht, ob man lachen oder weinen soll.
