Warum gibt es so wenig neue Antibiotika?
Es ist im Grunde ein bisschen müßig, den aktuellen Acinetobacter-Ausbruch an der Uniklinik Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel noch mal aufzudröseln. Man weiß nicht so genau, wie viele Leute tatsächlich direkt an dem Bakterium gestorben sind, und die Informationspolitik ist auch eher so meh, aber das ist auch nicht der Punkt. Der Punkt ist, dass mal wieder ein gegen alles Mögliche resistenter opportunistischer Erreger quer durch die Intensivstation geschmiert wurde. Ist ja bei weitem nicht das erste mal. Nun wär’s ja einfach, dem Krankenhaus und seinem medizinischen Personal unsauberes Arbeiten vorzuwerfen. Aber im Grunde ist das Kernproblem ein anderes: Die Viecher werden immer häufiger und tauchen an den unmöglichsten Orten auf. Es gibt immer mehr Resistenzen bei immer mehr Bakterien, während die Medizin seit Jahrzenten mit den gleichen Wirkstoffen hantieren muss. Die Frage stellt sich immer drängender: Wie bekommen wir neue Antibiotika?
